Product stewardship is the industry’s management of the health, safety and environmental aspects of a product throughout its total lifecycle, working in cooperation with upstream and downstream users. It involves more than just the implementation of and compliance with regulations; it is a voluntary initiative which aims at goals beyond those set out in the existing regulations. Product stewardship involves all business aspects - from R&D over manufacturing and marketing to logistics and waste management – and aims at the establishment of an overarching framework through an integrated approach. Simply put we like to translate this into "living the regulations instead of undergoing them".
